Dear Kix,
I met my now-boyfriend my freshman year of high school. He had just moved to Michigan from California and didn't have any friends. I immediately tried to be his friend but he constantly ignored me.
As the years went by, we would talk here and there but nothing serious. Now, 8 years later, he’s joined the Marine Corps and he finally had the courage to tell me the reason he ignored me. Turns out, he didn't think I would want to be with him and he didn't want to fall in love with me and risk getting hurt. But, I had always wanted him and couldn’t wait to tell him!!! Now, we are happily together and preparing for his deployment. After 8 years of waiting for each other, what's another 7 months apart?

I like your attitude – and I know for our troops – to have something to look forward to back home can certainly make their time over there go a little quicker. So, keep those cards and letters and emails and Skype chats coming – he's gonna need it.
