Fudge

2/3 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cup milk
1/8 tsp salt
3 cup sugar
2 tbl Karo syrup
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
* If you like nuts, add about a cup.

Set aside butter and vanilla for the end. Bring the rest of the ingredients to a boil at medium high heat and cook at a boil until a soft ball stage. Use the water method instead of candy thermometer – it comes out better!

Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Set aside and cool until warm. Stir until it loses its gloss or starts to thicken or both. Add to 8 x 8 pan and let it set until you can cut into slices.

If you double the recipe, use a 9×13 pan.
