This week's question is from Morgan who writes…

Dear Kix,

I'm told that I'm very talented for being only 14 years old and I'm a huge fan of country music! I can sort of play guitar but I’m a really great singer!  I was wondering what your advice would be, for someone my age, to get into the business?

I know it’s a one in a million shot, and maybe I should wait a few more years, but I’d really like to try! Would really appreciate your input.

Thanks so much,
Morgan

Kix's Response:

Well, Morgan, Taylor Swift started when she was about your age – she was already writing songs and had talked her parents into bringing her to Nashville and learning all she could learn!

I know LeAnn Rimes was younger than that. LeAnn used to sing everywhere – rodeos and county fairs. She was on contest shows way before American Idol and sang the National Anthem anywhere they would let her.

As for me, I had my first band when I was 12 – just a bunch of guys I went to school with who all wanted to do what I wanted to do, which was sing and play.

So, I guess, the thing we all have in common is we just love to play and sing. Just do it every chance you get because the more you do it the better you’ll get and if you’re stubborn enough and have the talent to go with it, more than likely, you’ll get your chance! But, keep practicing because when you get your chance you want to make sure you shine!!!

Good look, Morgan – I’m pulling for ya!
