This week's question is from Gary in Wisconsin who writes…
Dear Kix,
I was watching The Beatles tribute on TV a few weeks ago and I was wondering how much, if any, you were inspired by them? If not, who were your influences growing up?
Thanks so much,
Gary

Kix’s Response:
Thanks for your question, Gary.
Well, if you’re a musician, I think you would have had to live in a box not to be influenced by The Beatles! They were talented in so many ways and certainly changed the course of music in general. Most people will ask, “Were you Rolling Stones or Beatles? And, I was probably a little more Stones… I’ve just always liked music and making music that was a little more rootsy and rough, but I can still probably play a dozen Beatles songs. And, all those guys were big country fans, too.
And, to finish answering your question, I was very much influenced by the icons like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., and [Kris] Kristofferson, but I also very much admired a lot of the great Texas artists and writers like Willie [Nelson], Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Jerry Jeff Walker – check ‘em out if you’re not familiar with some of those writers.
Hope that answers your question! Thanks again!
