Hey Suzanne,

I have been a 4-H-er since I was in elementary school and we have always done and focused a lot on community service. I was recently selected to go the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, GA.

While I was there, we did a lot of workshops and heard some awesome speeches, but the best part was the one day that we went out into the Atlanta community and did community service all morning.

800-plus youth went out and just worked for complete strangers. Some packed books for Africa, some visited with seniors, some worked in a park, and some worked in schools.

I went to a school and one of the staff members had been working on moving a library. She had been giving any spare minutes she had, for a while at that point, to start moving this library so the school could make it into a classroom.  But that day, 15 4-H-ers came in and helped her finally move the whole library in just two hours.

I think that the 15 4-H-ers who pitched in to help move the library and the 800 people that did community service in Atlanta that day are all heroes.

Everyday there are millions of 4-H-ers around the world trying to make a difference in their community and it just goes to show what a wonderful organization it is.

Thanks for reading this!

Signed,
Jake
