Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not? – Mary’s Story

This is where YOU tell us YOUR love stories!  You know, like how you met your honey… how you found true love after all this time… or maybe even how you finally got back together with the one that got away.  You get the idea – whatever your "happily ever after" is, we wanna hear it!!!

This week’s story is from Mary who writes…

Dear Kix,

My "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?" love story begins in Portland, Oregon. I was set up on a blind date with Ryan in the summer of 2007. We instantly liked each other. We spent our first date walking to the beautiful falls and talking the whole way. We got to a look-out spot and he pulled me close and planted a kiss right on my lips.

The connection we had was incredible.  We spent the next couple of months talking on the phone and texting…but Ryan was in the Army and broke the news to me that he had to go to Iraq.  After he left, we continued to talk through letters, and four months later, he asked me to meet him in Australia. Of course, I said yes and I flew from Portland to meet him! We were both nervous, but when he picked me up at the airport… we were inseparable.

Ten short days later he had to return to Iraq, but after a few months, he finally came home to the Portland area, and we started dating for real.  I knew he was going to be a great part of my life despite another deployment and a stint in Georgia.  We became very good at the long-distance thing and we were finally married in the spring of 2013!

Ryan is currently deployed to Afghanistan and we miss each other every day. I'm so very proud of him for his accomplishments in the Army and in the life we have together. He is the kindest and most loving husband I could ever hope for, and we can't wait to be together again soon!

Sincerely,
The wife of a soldier – Mary Kell
