Our Kidde Hero of the Week spotlights a great organization called Dogs on Deployment.

Kix saw this story on People.com and wanted to share it with you!

Back in 2011, San Diego natives U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Alisa Sieber-Johnson and her husband U.S. Navy Lt. Shawn Johnson struggled to find someone to watch their two Australian shepherds when they were being stationed on opposite coasts.

Frustrated, the couple launched DoD or Dogs on Deployment, which connects members of the military with individuals willing to take in their pets while they serve our country. The organization has provided over 650 members of the military with boarding placement and financial support across the United States and abroad.

Advocates of the organization say DoD gives soldiers leaving their animals something priceless and necessary: peace of mind.

Kix's Response:

Isn’t that cool? And, anyone with a pet knows that’s a big deal. Thanks to all you volunteers for helping out our military. If any of you out there have seen the videos of dogs greeting their owners when they come home, you know how big of deal this is.
