This week’s Hero nomination comes from Sherry who writes…

Hi Kix!

This Memorial Day weekend I’d like to nominate ALL of our amazing men and women fighting for us overseas.  I’d like to also honor those who have served in the past and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I’m proud to be an American and am forever grateful and indebted to all of our brave troops.

I’m remembering them and saluting them all this weekend…  They are the ultimate heroes in my eyes!

Thanks for sharing, Kix! I love your show!

Signed,
Sherry

Kix's Response:

Thanks, Sherry – I couldn’t have said it better myself.

And, if I could add a story… When I was over in Iraq years ago performing, I met group of nurses at a meet and greet and one of them Jessica Ellis and I became pen pals. She was only 24 on her last tour of duty when she was killed by roadside bomb trying to help others who had been injured.

I reached out to her parents to share my condolences and later visited them when I was touring in the Northwest. Her father gave me a "Killed in Action" bracelet honoring her that was given to him by the military and I will wear it for the rest of my days to remind me of all the sacrifices that have been made to allow me my freedoms.

God bless all of you families out there who have had to deal with that kind of loss.

Thanks again for writing in, Sherry!
