This week’s Hero nomination comes from Sherry who writes…

Dear Kix,

I’m the daughter of an Atlanta firefighter… the man who was and will always be my hero!

Sadly, 16 years ago, on May 19th, 1999, I lost my hero in a small plane crash. But, shortly thereafter, I got the calling to do what he did and became a firefighter and an EMT also.

I miss my dad everyday, and I will always be “Daddy’s Girl,” but I’m so grateful for all of the other heroes at the Atlanta Fire Rescue because those guys help keep my hero’s memory alive!

Thanks, Kix!

Signed,

Sherry

Kix’s Response:

Congratulations, Sherry – that is quite an accomplishment. I’m not sure everyone realizes what is involved in being a firefighter, but I know it takes a lot of really tough physical training, along with the knowledge of what it takes to save someone’s life. It’s a big responsibility and a great service to your community. I know your dad would be proud – good on ya!!!
