Dear Kix,
I’d like to nominate my baby sister Que because of the care, love, and commitment she has to our family.
I had my only child very prematurely in October 2013. He was not due until February and spent the first seven months of his life in the hospital. Once he was released, I took time off of work to take care of him.
Eventually, my financial situation plummeted due to all of the extra expenses of having a child with special needs and so I went back to work. I couldn’t afford much and briefly considered putting him up for adoption so that he could have a family with the resources to care for him. But, Que was not going to allow that to happen.
She quit her job to move in with me and got her CNA license so that she could take care of Joseph while I worked. She works a job that she hates overnights to help me financially and cares for Joseph during the day. She is definitely my hero!
Joseph is happier and healthier than ever. Que also pursued classes in child development and education to gradually teach Joseph and give him as normal a life as possible. Because of her, he has developed so much. I don’t know where we’d be without her love and support.

Hang in there, Jasmine – it sounds like everyone is going to come out a winner here. God bless the heroes we have in friends and family who talk us off the ledge and help us understand that there’s always a way and someone out there who cares – just don’t give up! What a great story!
