We found this week’s Hero in a story on People’s website, and it goes like this:

World War II veteran Johnnie Hodges fell behind on his mortgage payments and was physically evicted from his home of 60 years. The 90-year-old had been caring from his wife, Fiora, who was battling Alzheimer’s, when he fell behind on the payments.

A man named Greg Elwood discovered the story about Johnnie’s pending eviction in the local newspaper and decided that he needed to help. So, Greg hit the internet and created a GoFundMe page. And, five months later, Greg had raised $110 thousand for the veteran.

So, just in time for Christmas this year, Johnnie was able to move back into his home where he had so many wonderful memories with his late wife. And, he was able to spend the holidays with his daughter and three grandchildren, along with their friends as well as Greg and his family.

Kix’s Response:

Isn’t that great? Man, that’s not just what Christmas is all about, that’s what the rest of our year should be about. Let’s take this opportunity and see if we can’t do a little better this next year. I know I’m going to – you with me?
