Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not? – Bertha and Joseph Sosnowsky

This is where YOU tell us YOUR love stories! You know, like how you met your honey… how you found true love after all this time… or maybe even how you finally got back together with the one that got away. You get the idea – whatever your “happily ever after” is, we wanna hear it!!!

We found this week’s story on the website for the Baltimore Sun and, being that it’s the start of a new year and this story began on New Year’s Eve, we thought it would be fitting…

Last year marked 70 years since the end of World War II, and there are two people Bertha and Joseph Sosnowsky who answered the call to service and wound up falling in love.

During the war, Joseph served in the Army and was assigned to Washington, and Bertha worked for the Department of Transportation. Well, as fate would have it, on New Year’s Eve 1944, they both attended a party and it was love at first sight! After that night, a long courtship followed, and Bertha and Joseph were married right after the war in 1946.

The couple was happily married for 68 years. Sadly, though, just short of their next wedding anniversary, at 96 years old, Bertha passed away.  And, just three days later, Joseph died also.

Their family says they were the greatest example of what it meant to be truly in love and devoted. From day one, their love was so powerful, even a horrible thing like the war could not stifle their feelings and then, later in life, even death would not be able to keep them apart for long!

Kix’s Response:

Yes, it does happen… I think about my grandparents every time I hear a story like that.
