This week’s story comes from a young lady named Cassie in Sevierville, TN who writes…

Hey Kix

On the way to church every Sunday I listen to ACC and the Hero of the Week nomination. I tell my mom to turn up the radio so I can hear all the amazing hero stories. It always makes me think about my special hero. So, I would like to nominate my Mamaw, Brenda Shults.

She worked for the LeConte Medical Center, and she would always help everyone with anything they needed, no matter what! She was the most amazing person I ever met!Unfortunately, in 2014, she lost her battle with cancer. It just got too strong for her, and she died the day before her birthday.

I always think about her, and I probably wouldn’t be the person I am today had it not been for her… neither would any of my family! She was the one that held us all together…she was the glue. I miss her so much but I know she would be very proud of me for all of my accomplishments. She is my Hero of the Week and my hero forever.

Thanks, Kix!

Signed,

Cassie

Kix’s Response:

Cassie, I’ve got a feeling your grandmother will always be with you, and, judging by your letter, I bet you’re right about her being proud of you, too. Losing the people we love is the hardest part of life, but carrying on with the spirit of those people is the best thing we can do, so keep up the good work and thanks so much for taking the time to write.
