This week, Natalee emailed us her Hero nomination… She writes:

Dear Kix,

On January 6, a state of emergency was declared in the city of Flint, Michigan, after high levels of lead were found in the city water. Since then, my husband, who’s a military vet and the Emergency Management Coordinator for the county, has worked extra long hours, nearly every day.

He helped bring in the team that delivered water and installed filters for those in need, and has gone above and beyond to assist with this crisis. Everyone has noticed his dedication and call him “a machine!”

I am so proud of him and would like to thank him for all he’s done! He’s “the machine behind the scene,” and that’s why he’s my hero!

Thanks, Kix!

All my best,

Natalee

Kix’s Response:

Thank you, Natalee. That whole lead in the water up in Flint is a story I think almost everyone is aware of, but when real disasters like that happen, it seems like it’s never the government built in program that really solves the problem and makes things better. There are always these great stories of the workers or neighbors or volunteers who go above and beyond.

I think it’s just real caring that really gets it done. And, the bottom line is all the taxes in the world won’t buy you that!
