Sunee emailed us in order to nominate an inspiring young lady as our Hero this week. She writes:
Dear Kix,
I’d like to nominate Abbigail Hickman as the Hero of the Week. When she was nine, she visited her local animal shelter and was disgusted by the poor conditions. So, she combined her love of animals and bowling and created a fundraiser for the shelter.
It’s become an annual event, and in the last three years, she’s raised over 30 thousand dollars! Also, the city was able to finally build a new shelter.
Nowadays, Abbigail is fundraising all year long, and she’s also created Welcome Home Kits, so that every time someone adopts from the shelter, they get a free box full of supplies to help them take care of their new pet.
Abbigail is an amazing kid with a huge heart and is a hero to all the animals she’s helped save in her community!
