This song came together late on the final day Darius Rucker was working on his Charleston, SC 1966 album. He’d been writing with well-known hit-makers, and a couple of names you might recognize – Chris Stapleton and Casey Beathard.
Darius threw out this line: “You’re on the feel good side of leaving.” And, those guys looked at each other and went, “Oh, yeah! Let’s do this thing!” So, they started grinding and pretty quickly wrote what became the album’s lead single.
