Ever play the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon?” Well, when it comes to music the same concept applies to Vince Gill. He’s either sang with, played for or produced just about any singer or musician you could think of. Try it. We’ll, wait…
Impressive, right? Vince, one of the most in-demand collaborators in Music City, has worked on more than five hundred albums by other artists. These days, Vince is currently climbing the ACC Chart as part of Chris Young’s latest hit “Sober Saturday Night.” You can also catch Vince at his standing Monday night gig with The Time Jumpers at Nashville’s 3rd and Lindsley. However, when he’s not helping out his music buddies, Vince is busy with his own illustrious career.
In the winter of 2016, Vince released his latest solo album Down To My Last Bad Habit, and this time some of Vince’s friends contributed to the project. It features appearances by Little Big Town and newcomer Cam (“Burning House”) and received quite a bit of critical acclaim.
Prior to its release, Vince stopped by the studio to catch up with Kix. And, if you’re a true music geek, this episode of Kix TV is not to be missed! Vince goes in-depth on making his latest album and shares his thoughts on his role when he produces other artists. Plus, Vince and Kix discuss “retirement” from music, as well as look back on artists who have made the decision to hang up the mic for good.
