We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
In April of 2013, Lee Brice celebrated his third consecutive number one with “I Drive Your Truck” – a song Lee said that he was drawn to immediately. It was written by Connie Harrington, Jessi Alexander and Jimmy Yeary.
The idea came from Connie after she heard a radio interview with a man who had lost his son in Afghanistan. When the song was finished, they all started crying. They knew they had something special.
The song founds its way to Lee Brice, and he recorded it for his Hard 2 Love album. It became an ACM and CMA award-winning, number one song.
Paul Monti, the man from the radio interview that inspired the songwriters, was tracked down and brought to Nashville for that number one party.
This week, we remember Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck:”
