The Song Remembers When: “Head Over Boots” – Jon Pardi

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Last year, Jon Pardi earned his first number one song with “Head Over Boots.“ It was his debut single off his California Sunrise album.

Well, Jon tells the story of hanging out in Texas with his dad and getting to enjoy a drink at a dance hall just outside of San Antonio. He sat at the bar and observed the room, and just like any good songwriter, what he noticed were couples of all ages dancing and enjoying the music, and he told himself he wanted to write a song that would have that same effect on people.

The next morning, he woke with the first verse of “Head Over Boots,’ and later on, he brought that idea to his songwriting appointment with songwriter Luke Laird. And, Luke said that Jon sat down singing that first verse and started playing that shuffle on guitar and he was the lucky guy to be in the room that day. And, if you know how many hits Luke Laird has written…well, I’d say they’re both lucky boys to have that kind of talent.

Jon took the song to number one in August of 2016… Here’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – “Head Over Boots:”
