We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
Brantley Gilbert already had success at country radio before he ever released his first song as an artist. Jason Aldean recorded a couple of Brantley’s tunes – “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party” – both of those songs went to the top of the charts.
In 2011, it was Brantley’s turn. And, his song “Country Must Be Country Wide” was one he co-wrote with Mike Dekle and Colt Ford, who was also his writing partner on “Dirt Road Anthem.”
The three of them said that the song was inspired by the fact that both Brantley and Colt, two Georgia boys, were starting to play shows outside of the southern region. And, they quickly realized that people didn’t have to come from the South to know what a dirt road was or enjoy a glass of sweet tea. Country fans were pretty much the same everywhere… they just had different accents!
Well, this song became Brantley’s first number one as an artist in November 2011. Here’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Brantley Gilbert and “Country Must Be Country Wide:”
