Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

Dierks Bentley is a big supporter of our military, and on his recent tour stop in Virginia Beach, Dierks met up with Sergeant Legrand Strickland and his family. Sergeant Strickland was severely injured. He lost both of his legs and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury when he was struck by an IED on a mission in Afghanistan. Well, Dierks, the Veterans United Home Loans and the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program presented Sergeant Strickland and his family with the keys to his mortgage-free, specially-adapted smart home to meet all his needs.

Dierks autographed a guitar that will be a part of an auction to raise more money for the RISE program. Last year, the same auction raised 45 thousand dollars. For Dierks, when it comes to our military, he’s all in. He loves this country and he’s extremely patriotic, so I’m thinking this week’s heroes are Dierks Bentley, the good folks of Veterans United, and the staff of R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment).

Kix’s Response:

You know, we can never do enough to help our guys and gals in uniform, so thanks Dierks and all the rest of you!
