Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

This week, we turn our focus to those men and women in blue and a story we saw on CNN – specifically, Officer Jennifer Maddox who has been a part of the Chicago Police Department for the last 20 years. Jennifer’s goal is to give kids in the Southside area of Chicago their childhoods back.

With the increased rate of crime, she has noticed that kids are afraid to go outside. So, she started the nonprofit called Future Ties. It offers students an afterschool program where they can get help with their studies. And, it’s a safe space for young people in the neighborhood to have access to resources needed to help them set and reach their goals.  Jennifer says that it’s a way for them to feel safe and have some peace.

So, Jennifer Maddox of the Chicago Police Department – you are our Kidde Hero!

Kix’s Response:

When people are in the trenches, they see what goes on… those are the ones that can make a difference. And Jennifer, you certainly are!

So, to all our men and women who wear the uniform, thank you for all you do!
