This week, we honor Cynthia Myler out of Springfield, Missouri. Now, Cynthia is a nurse, and she just happened to be getting her oil changed at the local Wal-Mart when someone ran in and said, “Call 9-1-1!”
Well, Cynthia immediately ran out to see what had happened and noticed a young man lying in the grass. He had just been hit by a truck. His leg had been caught between the truck and a metal barrier, and she could see that the leg was severely injured. So, she went into action by taking her coat and using it to make a tourniquet.
The doctors at the hospital credit Cynthia’s quick thinking for saving that young man’s life.
She said that she was just part of a string of people who were all working to make sure this young man, named Chris, survived. She credits the paramedics and the man who came in yelling for help, but, Chris says that if it weren’t for her, he knows that he wouldn’t be alive today.
