On the heels of signing with a new record label, Jake Owen is feeling a “rejuvenation” when it comes to his career. A lot of things have changed for Jake since he released his debut album Startin’ With Me back in 2006. There’s the six number ones on his resume from 2011’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” to his most recent “American Country Love Song.” And, Jake has logged time on some great tours with artists like Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Sugarland, and Brooks & Dunn. Meanwhile, on the personal front, Jake is a devoted single dad to five-year-old daughter Pearl.
As Jake places the finishing touches on his sixth album, the project’s lead single “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” is climbing the chart. The song evokes warm memories while saluting the iconic John Mellencamp classic “Jack & Diane” and looks to be shaping up as a big ole hit for Jake.
In this edition of Kix TV, Jake talks about the approach he has to recording his new album and the importance of receiving the Mellencamp stamp of approval for his latest single. Plus, Jake tells Kix all about his “favorite part of life right now” – being a dad to Pearl.
