This week, Lynn Anton nominates her friend Sharon Gates, who lives in Nashville. Lynn writes:

Hello Kix,

My friend Sharon lost her husband five years ago to a heart attack. She moved with her son to Nashville from Pennsylvania to get a new start.

In 2016, she was diagnosed, for a second time, with leukemia and will have to be in treatment receiving chemo for the rest of her life.

Instead of taking a “why me” attitude and going into a depression, she has focused her life on helping others by volunteering at a women’s shelter. She also spends time sewing items for those in need. She does these things for complete strangers, but she is also there for her friends and family always lending a helping a hand.

I’m blessed to have her in my life.  She’s a true hero and someone who continues to persevere in spite of the many obstacles she faces, a real hero that inspires so many others.

Signed,
Lynn

Kix’s Response:

Well, it’s easy to get knocked down when you have a diagnosis like cancer, and it sounds like Sharon is not going to let that get the best of her. We will keep her in our thoughts and pray she beats this thing.

And, thank you so much for writing in. And, thanks to Sharon for all she does…
