There’s no such thing as an overnight success. Just take a look at singer-songwriter Aaron Watson. Just last year, Aaron earned his first Top 10 hit with “Outta Style.” But, that moment was almost 20 years in the making.
On the touring circuit around Texas, fans have long been acquainted with Aaron. However, when his 2015 album The Underdog topped the Billboard Country Albums chart, the nation took notice. That feat was history-making. It was the first time a self-released, independently distributed and promoted album from a male solo artist debuted at number one. Adding to that, at the time, Aaron had not yet charted a single on the Country Airplay chart. Trust us, its impressive stuff.
Earlier this year, Aaron reflected on building his career in this conversation with Kix. Aaron talked about the benefits of being an independent artist and recording his latest single “Run Wild Horses.” Plus, Aaron shared the conversation with his dad that changed his entire outlook on pursuing music.
