By now, many of you have heard of Southwest Flight 1380, bound for Dallas that had to make an emergency landing after it lost one of its engine. The flight was piloted by Captain Tammie Jo Shults – who many are now comparing to another hero, Pilot Sully, who had to make an emergency landing on the Hudson River in Manhattan after his plane suffered engine failure back in 2009. In fact, Sully himself has praised Captain Shults for the job she did, getting that plane safely on the ground.

After the engine blew, she was able to maintain control of the plane and make an emergency landing in Pennsylvania. The former Navy pilot is credited for saving many lives after the plane sustained a hole in its side causing a casualty.

Tammie Jo thanked the public for their support, saying that she was just doing her job and that her thoughts are with the family who suffered that devastating loss.

Kix’s Response:

Do not ever underestimate those ladies who are up there in the cockpit. They are some of the best pilots that we’ve got. Thank you for your service, Tammie Jo, and thanks for doing such a good job on that really frightening day.
