The Song Remembers When: Tim McGraw – “Highway Don’t Care”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2013, Tim McGraw reached number one with “Highway Don’t Care.” The song featured Taylor Swift on vocals and Keith Urban on guitar, and it would go on to win awards from the CMA and the ACM. It was co-written by the Warren Brothers, along with Mark Irwin and Josh Kear.

Brad Warren said that they wrote the girl’s part as a voice on the radio. It wasn’t meant to be a part of the lyrics, but when Tim heard it, he knew instantly he wanted Taylor to sing on the song with him. The powerful video took the song to another level by showing what could happen when a person is texting and driving. It would go on to win the CMA and ACM for Video of the Year.
