The Song Remembers When: Jason Aldean – “Just Gettin’ Started”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

So, there are a bunch of Georgia boys in the music business that all hang out and work together writing songs, and that’s how Jason Aldean found his song “Just Gettin’ Started.” It was written by Georgia native Rhett Akins, who has written several songs for Jason. And, Rhett co-wrote the song with Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley, and then he sent it directly to Jason. It helps to have that direct connection…

Well, Jason said that he knew instantly that this thing was a hit and even thought of making it the title of his sixth studio album. But, instead he decided to go with Old Boots, New Dirt as the title.

Well, “Just Getting’ Started” became the second single to go to radio from that project. And, it would reach the top of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart in March of 2015, becoming Jason’s 13th career number one.

Here’s Jason Aldean with this week’s The Song Remembers When – “Just Gettin’ Started.”
