Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

This week, we found a story out of Madison Township, Ohio. A school bus driver, who chose not to give her name, is being recognized as a hero. This driver saved the lives of two dozen students.

While driving, she noticed smoke coming from under the hood of her bus. She immediately pulled off the road and called 911. She had all the students calmly exit the bus.  And, once they were several feet away, the driver did one last check to make sure everyone was off the bus. Within minutes of returning to safety, that bus went up in flames.

Fire Chief Kent Hall was the first person on the scene. He said that this bus driver did everything right and, because of her, the kids are all safe.

Kix’s Response:

I think that sometimes when an incident occurs it’s the person’s ability to remain calm and fall back on their training that makes them, not only the perfect person for the job, but, in this case, a hero.

She was able to get everyone to safety and, obviously, not one who wants to take any credit for it… This school bus driver – whoever she is – is our Kidde Hero!
