The Song Remembers When: Luke Bryan – “That’s My Kind of Night”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2013, Luke Bryan released the second single from his Crash My Party album. “That’s My Kind of Night” peaked at number two on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and sold over four million copies. It was co-written by Dallas Davidson, Ashley Gorley, and Chris DeStafano.

Now, the songwriting trio admits to writing a lot of party songs, but they wanted to write about the perfect night. For Dallas, that would be riding around in his truck with a beautiful girl, an adult beverage, and doing a little catfishing. He said that some people might want to go out for an expensive dinner, a bottle of wine, and some TV, but his kind of night is to raise a little hell and enjoy life.

Dallas played the song for Luke, and he immediately said that it was going to be his next single. Dallas has written a lot of hits for Luke… He and Luke come from the same background – a couple of Georgia boys – that makes it easy for him to write songs for Luke.

It’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Luke Bryan and “That’s My Kind of Night.”
