We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
Blake Shelton says that one of the greatest influences on his career has been the late Conway Twitty. What he loved most about Conway was the fact that he put a few silly songs on his albums, along with those great heartbreakers. Songs that were fun and had a great melody. Blake says that’s why he recorded songs like “Hillbilly Bone” and his 2015 number one “Gonna.” Luke Laird and Craig Wiseman happen to be the writers behind both of those songs.
When it came to “Gonna,” Luke said that all they had the day they wrote that was a beat. So, they started doing a little beatboxing. Craig jumped in, and he started throwing in some lyrics. And, they knew this was gonna be a fun one.
Well, tt’s about a man starting a relationship, and it is all centered on the word “Gonna.” And, it became the fourth and final single off Blake’s album Bringing Back The Sunshine, and it was his 21st number one.
This week’s Song Remembers When is Blake Shelton with “Gonna.”
