Find out how you can nominate a “Hero of the Week” at the bottom of the page.
Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week…
Alexa from Marathon, New York, wrote in this week to nominate her father and brother, Donald and Dylan Barber, who are second and third generation dairy farmers.
Alexa says that it’s tough for the dairy industry right now, especially for small family farms. Although it’s tough being a farmer, she considers her father and brother to be her heroes. Their ability to continue to keep the family farm going and to put food not only on their own table but to send out milk that goes to other families around the country is inspiring. She also thinks that their work ethic and determination sets a great example for the younger kids.
So, she’d like to honor all dairy farmers for doing what they love, knowing it’s not easy but still hanging in there.

Kix’s Response:
I think that the farmers in our country should always be recognized for the hard work that they do. I think, on a personal level, Alexa, your family seems to be setting a great example for the next generation and because of what they do, they are our heroes this week.
Thank you for writing in!
