Hero of the Week: Laura Jones

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Larry Jones from Nashville, Tennessee, wrote us on Facebook to nominate his little girl Laura as ACC’s Hero of the Week.

In 2017, Laura was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when she was only nine years old.  It was during her treatment for this aggressive cancer that she started to receive gifts from strangers while she was in the hospital. Those gifts were stuffed animals, toys, crafts, anything that would bring her some comfort while she was going through her treatment.

Laura realized at that moment that she wanted to help other children going through life-threatening illnesses receive gifts because she knew from personal experience the joy it would bring them. That’s when she started Laura’s Wish. To this date, her organization has delivered over five thousand toys to six hospitals in four states.

Kix’s Response:

Well, Larry, you are right – your little girl sounds like a fighter, not just for herself, but for all kids who are battling illness.

Thank you, Laura, for doing what you do. You are an amazing young woman. And, we’re happy to hear that you are better!
