Hero of the Week: Patti Blevins

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we’d like to honor Patti Blevins, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was several years ago when Patti’s friend Sherrie told her that her husband, John, needed a kidney. Sherrie’s husband had been on dialysis for seven years. And, he had been on a waiting list for a while.

Sherrie was growing concerned, and she reached out to her church, hoping that her friends would consider being tested to see if they were a match. Well, Patti got the test, and she proved to be a perfect match! In January of 2011, they had the surgery, and it was a success.

Now, every year in January, all three of them get together on the anniversary of that surgery to celebrate and toast to John’s health. They give thanks to a friend who’ll forever be a part of their lives.

So, Patti Blevins, you are this week’s ACC Hero!
