Hero of the Week: Dax

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Well, who doesn’t love a good hero story of the canine kind!

Dax is a five-year-old German Shephard with K-9 unit in Lake County, Illinois. He found a missing man not long after he finished up a competition in Michigan, where he took home several awards including “Top Overall Police Dog.”

The missing man had apparently passed out about a quarter mile through a wooded area where the police dog discovered him. The man was then transported to a hospital. Officer Forlenza, who is Dax’s partner, said that the dog saved that man’s life.

In his four years with law enforcement, Dax has tracked down a total of 80 people. And, this October, he’ll travel to California where he is a finalist for “National Hero Dog.”

Kix’s Response:

Good luck, Dax!
