The Song Remembers When: Justin Moore – “Somebody Else Will”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Justin Moore scored a number one in September 2017 with “Somebody Else Will.” The song was co-written by Adam Hambrick, Kelly Archer, and Canadian singer-songwriter Tebey.

It was Adam who threw out the title and was initially thinking that this song would be a ballad. But, Kelly thought it should have a faster tempo. They wrote the chorus first and that helped to write the first verse. They wanted this to be about a guy who saw something special in a woman and knew he had to act fast if he wanted to get her attention. When it came to recording the demo, they brought in five players. And, they told them to be aggressive with what they were playing so that the song would have more of a rock feel.

“Somebody Else Will” was initially put on hold by Rascal Flatts. But, Justin Moore’s producer heard it, and he knew that it would be a great chance to showcase Justin’s vocals. However, Justin had his concerns. He felt that the song was out of his comfort zone, and he was worried that his fans wouldn’t like the rock sound. But, Justin’s producer talked him into giving it a try.

The song went on to become the second single from Justin’s Kinda Don’t Care album and his sixth number one. And, it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When… Here’s Justin Moore with “Somebody Else Will.”
