Hero of the Week: Edna

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Aleeshya from Calgary wrote in to nominate her grandmother as an ACC Hero. She writes:

Dear Kix,

My grandmother Edna is a hero because she has opened her home to so many people over the years – people that may have lost their homes or fallen on hard times.  For example, one woman was kicked out of her house by her mother and was welcomed by my grandmother to stay in her home.  That woman now has a full life.  She is married with two young children of her own.

Edna has also raised her own children and stepped in to help raise other kids that were less fortunate. She happens to have her own company, and at 70 years old, she is still going strong!

She is a great role model for so many and she is my hero.

Signed,
Aleeshya

Kix’s Response:

Well, Aleeshya, thank you for writing in, and your grandmother Edna sounds like an amazing person!

I love that story about the chicken and the pig talking in the barnyard and they want to do something nice for the farmer. The chicken says, “Let’s make him breakfast! I’ll provide the eggs and Pig, you can provide the ham.” And, the pig says, “Chicken, for you, that’s a gift; for me, it’s a full commitment!” You know, I feel a lot like the chicken in this story when I hear about folks like Edna who really commit…

So, Edna, we are happy to honor you as our ACC Hero of the Week!
