Hero of the Week: Max Meza

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we honor a six-year-old boy who saved a teacher’s life.

Little Max Meza, who goes to school down in Polk County, Florida, was in his classroom when his teacher Joyce Darr collapsed to the floor and hit her head. Max immediately jumped up from his desk, and he ran to the next classroom yelling for that teacher to call 9-1-1. Joyce was taken to the hospital where she remained for several weeks before recovering.

Max and his mom went to the hospital to visit her. They also met with her son Derek, who thanked Max for saving his mother’s life. He told Max that he is a hero and presented him with his first pair of Air Jordans. The county sheriff also held a meeting to call little Max a hero and presented him with a brand new bike.

Kix’s Response:

Well, there you go… I think that the rest of the kids will learn from what Max did. If something happens and you can help, jump into action when you can. And, we’re so happy to hear that his teacher Ms. Darr is doing okay.

Max, you definitely deserved a hero’s treatment… So, six-year-old Max Meza, from Polk County Florida, we’d also like to recognize you as this week’s ACC Hero!
