The Song Remembers When: Carly Pearce – “Every Little Thing”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2017, Carly Pearce made her debut with “Every Little Thing.” She co-wrote this song with Emily Shackleton and the late songwriter/producer Busbee.

Carly said that the day they wrote “Every Little Thing,” she remembers Busbee asking her what she wanted to write. And, she replied that she was a fan of those haunting ballads that Alison Krauss was known for and she wanted to write something along those lines. It was Carly’s personal story of heartbreak that was the foundation for the lyrics.

She said that she shopped around for a record deal using that tune, but every label passed. When a head of programming at satellite radio heard this song, they decided to play it on the air. On the first night it made its debut, she heard from Big Machine Records. They contacted her in a private message through her Instagram page. And, they said that they loved the song and wanted to meet with her the following morning.

Well, it launched her career after going number one in November of 2017. And, it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When. Here’s Carly Pearce and “Every Little Thing.”
