This week, we shine the spotlight on B.B. McGowan, out of Dallas, Texas.
B.B. used to be homeless. He’d become dependent on alcohol which caused him to fall on hard times. He was living on the streets until the Oak Lawn United Methodist Church helped get him sober. Now that he’s back on his feet and has a place of his own, B.B. finds joy in giving back and has made it his mission to pay it forward.
So, every night, he gets into the church van and rides the streets – the same streets he used to sleep on – offering those homeless a ride to a shelter. B.B. says that after what he’s been through, he no longer takes anything for granted and has a new appreciation for life.

Suzanne’s Response:
Anyone can fall on hard times for various reasons, but to see this man pick himself up and decide to help others with his own good fortune, well, it’s pretty amazing. And, it’s important to note that we all can use a helping hand. There’s no shame in asking for the help.
B.B. McGowan, you are this week’s ACC Hero!
