This weekend, we have a story from the world of professional golf.
Brandon Matthews was playing at the Argentine Open. He had an eight-foot putt to win his first event on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. But, just as he swung, a fan in the crowd yelled out and Brandon missed the putt. This is a big no-no in golf. Brandon looked back and yelled at the spectator.
Afterwards, an official told him that the fan who yelled had Down Syndrome, and he didn’t realize he was being a disruption. Well, as it turns out, Brandon had grown up around people with special needs. So, he asked the official to take him to meet the fan. Brandon gave the young man a hug and talked to him for a while. He gave him an autographed glove and a golf ball to keep as a souvenir.
Brandon said that the loss is gonna sting for a while, but he feels that at only 25, he has a long career ahead of him. He added that sometimes you have to look at other people’s lives and what they’re going though because it’s about more than a little white ball.
