Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
Linda Roberts wrote in to nominate her grandson Austin and granddaughter Molly as this week’s Hero. She writes:
Hey Kix,
My daughter is a diabetic and she’s about to start kidney dialysis. One morning, she collapsed and her son Austin found her. He couldn’t find her cell phone and since they live right next to the school, he ran there to call 911. My granddaughter, at just three years old, let the paramedics in the house.
They said that they got there just in time. If it wasn’t for Austin’s quick action of calling 911, things could’ve turned out differently. They surprised him at his school to honor him as a hero.
I think both Austin and my granddaughter are heroes for how they helped their mom that day. I think it’s so important that we teach all children about dialing 911 for emergencies.
Signed,
Linda

Kix’s Response:
Linda, thank you for writing in, and yes, I think every family should teach their kids about 911 and what to look for in case there is an emergency situation. So, we’d like to recognize Austin and his baby sister Molly as this week’s Heroes.
