Heroes of the Week: The Students of Bus 43

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we’d like to honor the students of Davie County High School in North Carolina, who jumped to the rescue of their bus driver.

Kaelyn Angell, a sophomore, said that she was sitting with her friend on their school bus. They were talking to their driver about what they were going to do when they got home.  As Kaelyn approached her stop, she noticed that their driver couldn’t stop the bus. The driver was leaning toward the window and the bus was out of control.

Well, the students immediately jumped into action. They grabbed the wheel, hit the brakes and activated the emergency brake. The students also called 911, and they did their best to help the driver who was unconscious.

Kix’s Response:

If those students hadn’t grabbed the wheel, things could’ve been much worse. So, we’d like to recognize those Davie County students on Bus 43 as our Heroes of the Week.
