Hero of the Week: Stacy Hardin

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, Richard Hardin, out of Peoria, Illinois, wrote in to nominate his wife Stacy as a Hero. He writes:

Dear Kix,

My wife Stacy works tirelessly in our community to make sure the kids and the local teachers have enough books in their homes and in their classrooms.  Last year, she gave away over 50 thousand free books.  And, for the upcoming school year, she has given out over 21 thousand books to our local at-risk school district. On top of that, Stacy fills our local Little Free Libraries, gives books to local nursing homes and food pantries, as well as many other places in need.

I don’t know where she gets her energy, but she is really passionate about increasing the literacy rates here in Peoria.  She owns Book Rack Used Books and is the President and Founder of Book Rack Literacy Foundation.

Signed,
Richard

Kix’s Response:

Well, it’s amazing when someone can dedicate themselves to such a cause and be so passionate about it. I believe passion feeds your energy.  And, as far as our teachers, I know that a lot of times they pay out of pocket to make sure their students get the supplies they need, so to see Stacy helping those kids and their teachers? Well, that is tremendous.

Stacy Hardin – you are this week’s ACC Hero!
