Heroes of the Week: Dan DiGregorio, David MacDonald, Tom Garner, Walter Puddifer, and Burnett Wilson

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Thanks to James Schwartz for sending us this nomination that features an amazing rescue story in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

A father and his four children were trapped in their car as flood waters rushed by them. They were held back from going into the river by some fencing along the road. Several people spotted the dire situation and yelled for the man in the car to hold on as they tried to figure out how to make a human chain. The group of people then spotted a guy on a backhoe and yelled for him to come help. After a dramatic rescue, the father and his four children were all pulled to safety one by one.

When one of the rescuers, Dan DiGregorio, was asked if he knew any of the other men, he said that they didn’t know each other and didn’t know the family that we were rescuing, but it didn’t matter. He said that we are here to help one another – it’s just what we are supposed to do.

Suzanne’s Response:

Very true. To those rescuers – Dan DiGregorio, David MacDonald, Tom Garner, Walter Puddifer, and Burnett Wilson – you are all heroes!
