The Song Remembers When: Luke Bryan – “Fast”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In November 2016, folks were getting into the holiday spirit, of course. And, Luke Bryan released a song that would remind people to slow down in the midst of everything.

Luke wrote “Fast” with songwriters Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird. The three of them got together at Luke Laird’s office in Nashville to try and bang out a song. Rodney said that once they had the idea of tying it into the word “fast,” the song came together just like it’s title…FAST!

Luke Bryan loved the idea of taking one simple word that could get people to reflect on the everyday things we take for granted.  For him, the song was all about reflecting on his own life with his wife Caroline. He said that he felt they lived a lifetime in the first ten years of their marriage.

It was the sixth and final single from Luke’s 2015 album Kill The Lights. And, when it hit the top of the chart in April 2017, Luke made a little history. It was the first time an artist had earned six number ones from the same album.

Here’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Luke Bryan with “Fast.”
