Hero of the Week: Eduard Seitan

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Eduard Seitan, of Chicago, is a 48-year-old restaurant owner. He came to the United States from Romania when he was 19. Through a series of jobs and learning the English language, he would eventually partner up One Off Hospitality Group to open the Michelin-starred restaurant Blackbird. And, it wasn’t long until he had ten other restaurants in the Chicago area. But, when the pandemic hit, this all came to a halt, and some of his restaurants closed for good.

During his down time, Eduard turned to what he loves – flying. He has an old plane that he flies, and he decided to team up with Pilots N Paws, a non-profit that helps at risk shelter animals. He flies the animals from kill shelters to no kill organizations and foster homes. And, Eduard has personally flown over 40 pets to safety.

Because of his passion for animal rescue, the One Off Hospitality Group started #WeFoster which connects employees with foster and adoption opportunities, and the program pays for food and pet care.

Talk about making lemonade out of lemons! That is very cool, Eduard –  what a way to turn a bad time into something so rewarding and life-saving for so many animals!
