This week, we shine the spotlight on U.S. Army Sergeant Ethan LaBerge.
Ethan, along with his family, was recently a guest at the Grand Ole Opry’s tribute to veterans. They surprised him by presenting him with a mortgage-free home!
Ethan enlisted in the army at the age of 18. He served two tours in Afghanistan during his five years of service.
In May of 2012, Ethan was doing a combat mission in Afghanistan when his life was changed forever. His platoon was leaving a meeting when a civilian detonated a suicide vest just ten feet from his group. The bomb killed two and left Ethan in critical condition. He suffered broken bones, a concussion and had to undergo 11 surgeries. He’s had to endure struggles with memory loss, among other challenges.
For his service, Ethan received the Purple Heart and now this mortgage-free home. Ethan’s wife Arin is also an Army veteran and the couple have two children.

Kix’s Response:
Ethan, I can’t imagine the road to recovery that you’ve been on but I’m glad your home, state side, safe with your family. For your bravery and service, I too, like the Opry did last weekend, would like to recognize you. Ethan, you are an ACC Hero.
