We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
Have you ever heard of the expression “one and done?” Well, that was the idea behind Chris Janson’s number one song “Done.” He co-wrote it with Mitch Oglesby, Jamie Paulin, and Matt Roy. And, it is featured on Chris’ latest album Real Friends.
Chris said that he had every intention on writing an up-tempo love song when he sat down to write that day. It was Mitch who brought the concept for the song after noticing that whenever Chris was serious about something, he’d say, “Done!” Chris admits that’s exactly what he said after he met his wife Kelly. He knew from the moment he met her that she was the one and that he would spend the rest of his life doing whatever he could to make her happy.
The couple, who will celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary this summer, are very much in love, so Kelly is often the inspiration for Chris’ songwriting. As for the song, Chris describes it as a “mid-nineties, down-the-middle-of-the-road hit,” and he’s right because this song topped the chart for two weeks last August!
